White Fungus and Papaya Soup with Goji

White fungus is also called snow ear fungus, silver ear fungus, white wood ear, white mushroom. And these names tell, it is a type of fungus also belonging to the mushroom family. White fungus looks white or pale yellow, like coral in water. It has a few common names being silver ear or white wood ear.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, white fungus is very healthful for middle and old aged people, especially for people with lung disorders. Eating white fungus could help keep our skin young. Cooked with rock sugar in a sweet soup, or with chicken in a savory version are among the popular preparation methods. Now I would share this white fungus and papaya soup with goji recipe.

Ingredients: Half papaya; 5g white fungus; 1g goji

Seasoning: 20g rock sugar; 5g honey

Directions:

1. Prepare all ingredients such as half papaya, 5g white fungus, 20g rock sugar, 1g goji and 5g honey. Infuse goji, white fungus in cold water until tender. Then clean them.

2. Put rock sugar, white fungus and goji in a bowl with water, and steam the bowl until rock sugar thaws. Cut the papaya.

3. Get rid of papaya seeds with a steel spoon. Add steamed white fungus and goji soup into the papaya, then add honey.

4. Then put the bowl onto the wok, cover a lid and then steam for about 10 minutes. Serve. The soup is really really delicious. Hope everyone that reads this recipe can have a try.
