Lettuce stem is known in Mandarin as WoSun or WoJu, and lettuce stem is also known as Celtuce, or Asparagus Lettuce. Looking at its nutritional value, I’m happy to find a wide ranging good minerals and vitamins in this vegetable. Today I would show you a quick stir fry asparagus lettuce recipe.
Ingredients: 500g asparagus lettuce
Seasoning: 1 red string pepper; 1 green string pepper; 5g oil; 4g salt; 2g monosodium glutamate; 5ML steamed fish soy sauce; 1 onion; some ginger; 3 garlic cloves
1. Wash and clean asparagus lettuce, peel off the asparagus lettuce. Cut asparagus lettuce into fine 8cm long stripes.
2. Cut red and green string peppers in circle. Cut ginger into fine stripes, and grate garlic cloves. Add water into a wok and bring to boiling. Add salt, oil, then asparagus lettuce to blanch for a while.
3. Add oil into a wok, heat the wok, add prepared ginger, garlic cloves and stir fry until fragrance. Add asparagus lettuce into the wok, add monosodium glutamate and stir fry for one minute.
4. Add well-prepared red and green string peppers into the wok, sprinkle 3g salt, stir fry for one minute. Finally add 5ML steamed fish soy sauce, and stir fry until fragrance. Then switch off the heat. Serve.
Cooking tips: first blanching asparagus lettuce can decrease stir fry time, and keep asparagus lettuce crispy.
